About Compare Screens
Our Mission
Compare Screens was created with a simple mission: to help people visualize the real difference between screen sizes before making a purchase. We believe that understanding the actual size difference between a 55-inch and 65-inch TV, or a 24-inch and 27-inch monitor, shouldn't require a trip to the store or complex calculations.
What We Offer
Our free visual comparison tool lets you:
- Compare up to 4 screens side-by-side with accurate proportions
- See real dimensions in both inches and centimeters
- Understand area differences with percentage comparisons
- Explore different aspect ratios including 16:9, 21:9 ultrawide, 4:3, and more
- Share comparisons with easy-to-remember URLs
Why We Built This
We've all been there — standing in a store, trying to imagine how a TV would look in our living room, or scrolling through monitor specs online without any real sense of the size difference. Screen sizes are measured diagonally, which makes it hard to intuit the actual viewing area difference.
That's why we built Compare Screens. Our tool takes the guesswork out of screen size comparisons by showing you exactly how screens compare in terms of width, height, and total viewing area.
How It Works
Our calculations are based on standard screen geometry. Given a diagonal size and aspect ratio, we calculate the exact width and height using the Pythagorean theorem. The visual representation shows screens to scale, so you can see the true proportional difference between any two sizes.
We cover all major device categories:
- TVs: From 43" bedroom TVs to 98" home theater displays
- Monitors: Standard 16:9 and ultrawide 21:9 displays
- Laptops: 13" to 16" with modern 16:10 aspect ratios
- Tablets: iPad and Android tablet sizes
- Phones: Modern smartphone screen sizes
Our Commitment
Compare Screens is committed to providing:
- Accuracy: Mathematically precise calculations
- Simplicity: An intuitive, clutter-free interface
- Speed: Instant comparisons with no sign-up required
- Accessibility: A free tool available to everyone
